When the sun comes out in Paris, everyone suddenly comes out of hibernation – and one of the first places we flock to, tends to be rooftop bars, as they harness all the best of what Parisian summers have to offer: long chats with friends, spending time with family, lively music, and impeccable city views to enjoy the city in its rare sunshine.

As a local living in Paris, I’m going to share with you all of my favorite rooftop bars in Paris – giving my full honest review of each, prices, and the pros and cons of visiting each one.

When are rooftop bars open in Paris?

Generally, rooftop bars in Paris are only open in the spring and summer months – with what we call “terraces” in French not opening until at minimum April and more likely later into May and early June.

This is because most rooftop bars in Paris operate depending on the weather outside, and as Paris is known to be a bit of a moodier city – it can be hard to predict when it’s warm and sunny enough for rooftop bars to open again.

What are the best rooftop bars in Paris?

If I had to give a condensed answer as a local, my favorite rooftop bars in Paris would be Hôtel Dame des Arts, Le Tout Paris, Toit de la Tour, IVOLO Rooftop, and Terras Hotel Rooftop Bar. This is because all of these rooftops have the best ambiances, menu and drink selections, accommodating staff, and sweeping views of Paris.

15 Best Rooftop Bars in Paris (2026)

📍 Location: 6th arrondissement

💸 Price: €€

🌆 Views: Amazing panoramic views of Paris

🥂 Best For: A first rooftop bar experience in Paris

✨ Highlight: Unbeatable views of many of the city's most iconic monuments and landmarks

Probably my personal favorite rooftop bar in all of Paris, which was actually shown in Emily in Paris – Hôtel Dames des Arts is located just a few steps away from the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg.

This allows for close (but not too close) views of the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, and more.

Just bear in mind that it can get windy up here, but it’s totally worth it for the beyond fair prices and amazing views of the city and its most famous monuments.

Address: 4 Rue Danton, 75006 Paris

Open: April to October

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: No

Reservation Needed: Yes (they are strict about it here)

Another stellar view of the city can be found at Le Tout Paris, which is a rooftop bar inside a fancy hotel right next to La Samaratine called “Le Cheval Blanc” – or the white horse.

Just beware that this one is a bit on the fancier side, meaning it’s a bit price. However, what’s great about Le Tout Paris is that the view is truly 360 degrees – offering some of the best views from any rooftop bar in Paris possible.

This makes the name of this rooftop bar very fitting, as you really can see all of Paris from Le Tout Paris.

Address: 8 Quai du Louvre, 75001 Paris

Open: Year-round

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: No

Reservation Needed: Yes (walk-ins were possible but hard, even as a solo visitor)

3.   IlVOLO Rooftop de Novotel 15th arr

📍 Location: 15th arrondissement

💸 Price:

🌆 Views: Fair views of Paris, including both the Eiffel Tower and Sacré-Cœur

The music is great (as in not obnoxiously loud and still quiet enough to talk), and the drinks were surprisingly very good – with amazing portion sizes and even small snacks in true apéro fashion.

This is definitely a more local place, but as it’s in a hotel – it’s still perfect for tourists who don’t know a lick of French.

Address: 257 Rue de Vaugirard 7e étage, 75015 Paris

Open: Year-round

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: Yes (there’s a section that’s completely inside that you could even enjoy in the winter!)

☀️ Best For: Those looking for summer vibes, outdoor seating, and a convenient option while staying near Montmartre

One of the perfect one-stop-shop rooftop bars in Paris, Terras Hotel offers a little bit of something for everyone.

white tables with paris eiffel tower view

View of Eiffel Tower at Terras Rooftop Bar in Montmartre; March 2026

With a stunning front view of Eiffel Tower reminiscent to Montparnasse tower, the crowd at Terras rooftop is a little bit younger and not as family friendly as IVOLO – as it’s more catered to young couples for a daytime date or girlfriends meeting up on the weekend. It’s a tighter space, so a little noisier but still perfect for conversations with light pop music in the background.

It’s a beautiful mix of causal and more upscale – creating a beautiful balance and ambiance: with a solid mix of locals and hotel guests. If you’re hungry, there are also lots of great looking tapas to choose from – all of which smelled amazing.

If you end up sitting near the view, there sliding windows on side customers can self adjust. It’s an all around great place, but beware – it gets busy quickly if you don’t come right at opening hours (I came at 4, opens at 3:30pm).

Address: 12 Rue Joseph de Maistre, 75018 Paris

Open: Year-round

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: Yes

Reservation Needed: No

Hidden in the middle of a popular local neighborhood (link to best neighborhoods here), this rooftop bar in Paris serves up inventive cocktails and also serves amazing food.

If you come during an off hour, it’s quiet enough to bring work or study materials while enjoying the beautiful views of Paris.

The music isn’t too loud, the staff is friendly, and you’ll get a little view of everything in Paris.

🌸 Best For: Those looking for a floral, summery rooftop atmosphere

✨ Highlight: One of the prettiest rooftops in Paris with colorful flowers, greenery, and a bright seasonal vibe

With a name perfectly fitting, Bar sur le toit, otherwise known as bar on the rooftop - is the exact kind of place you imagine spending in the summery: flowery, tranquil, and full of pastels.

red pink flowers and parisian rooftop

View of Parisian rooftops and bright pink flowers at Bar sur le toit; May 2026

With its floral, sunshine vibes - Bar sur le toit plays calm jazzy music to provide a peaceful rooftop bar experience.

Sadly, there aren’t many views of the famous monuments where customers sit, but you literally do feel like you’re sitting in the Parisian rooftops - which is a special feeling on its own.

With also friendly staff and serving nuts on the side of drinks, this one is a winner for when you’re looking for an escape to be one with Paris in the summer.

Address: Hôtel La Fantaisie, 24 Rue Cadet, 75009 Paris

Open: Year-round

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: Yes, but terrace on the “toit” will be closed – which is the best part of this rooftop bar

Reservation Needed: Yes (they wouldn’t even let me up as a single person without one, even if there was space)

7.   Rooftop Nationale

📍 Location: 3rd arrondissement

While it’s a tad on the expensive side, it’s definitely vibrant and alive - perfect for millennials or Gen Z traveling in Paris looking to go off the beaten path.

Address: 243 Rue Saint-Martin, 75003 Paris

Open: During the warmer months; typically April/May to September

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: No

8.   Perruche (Printemps)

📍 Location: 9th arrondissement

💸 Price: €€€

🗼 Views: Nice views of Paris with the Eiffel Tower visible in the distance

📸 Best For: Those who want something besides the popular Galeries Lafayette rooftop view but still crave a similar experience

✨ Highlight: A slightly more under-the-radar rooftop with Eiffel Tower views and a quieter atmosphere than some of Paris's most famous viewpoints. Perfect for travelers searching for unique Eiffel Tower photo spots .

Less known by tourists is Printemps, which is a department store in Paris also located in the 9th arrondissement – and while it’s also like a French version of Nordstrom, it’s a little bit less posh than the popular Galeries Lafayette – and the same goes for its rooftop bar.

la perruce rooftop bar paris eiffel tower view

View of Eiffel Tower from Perruche at Printemps; November 2025

I surprisingly had overlooked this one for years, but I really do like the views from this rooftop bar. I personally love coming here during Christmas time so I can sip on my drink while people watching the ice skaters and the backdrop of Paris at the same time.

Address: Printemps De L'Homme, 2 Rue du Havre 9ème étage, 75009 Paris

Open: Year-round

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: Yes

Reservation Needed: No (but good to do just in case as it’s inside a large department store known amongst locals)

9.   Balcon (Galleries Lafayette)

📍 Location: 9th arrondissement

💸 Price: €€€

🗼 Views: Nice views of Paris with the Eiffel Tower in the distance

🛍️ Best For: Those already shopping at Galeries Lafayette or staying in the 9th arrondissement

✨ Highlight: A convenient rooftop stop with skyline views right in the heart of one of Paris's best shopping districts

Previously known as Creatures, this popular terrace and restaurant at the top of Paris’s most coveted department store just re-opened in May 2026 with fresh ideas and creative recipes for an exciting summer ahead.

eiffel tower in distance with lots of greenery

View of Eiffel Tower from rooftop at Galeries Lafayette; July 2021

Truly one of the most well-known views in Paris by locals and Paris alike, there’s nothing overrated about this popular spot to bask in the beauty of the city. Just note that it’s often very busy, especially during the summer and the holiday season.

Address: 25 Rue de la Chau. d'Antin, 75009 Paris

Open: Year-round (but may have exceptional closures due to bad weather)

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: Yes

Reservation Needed: No (but good to do just in case as this is popular and well-known)

10.   Le Rooftop L’Heure Dorée

📍 Location: 16th arrondissement

💸 Price: €€€

🗼 Views: Eiffel Tower and Sacré-Cœur in the distance, though not much else due to the direction the rooftop faces

🥂 Best For: People who love fancy hotels, luxury travel, and more upscale experiences

✨ Highlight: Beautiful Eiffel Tower views and an elegant summer atmosphere that feels quintessentially Parisian

After reading quite a few bad reviews online about this rooftop bar in Paris, I am happy to report the opposite – Le Rooftop L’Heure Dorée was a great one to visit on a Saturday afternoon.

eiffel tower and light pink flowers

Pink flowers and Eiffel Tower view at Le Rooftop L’Heure Dorée; May 2026

Located inside the five-star The Peninsula Paris hotel, this is a small but very summery rooftop bar in Paris that is best for beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower – as it’s roughly only 2 kilometers (or 1.2 miles) away from the Iron Lady.

The staff was also very friendly, and since the bar itself is so small – it’s perfect for those looking for something on the quieter side to chat. The only con worth nothing here is that this was by far the most expensive rooftop bar I have visited in Paris to date – as I paid around €20 for an apple juice!

Still, I would say that Le Rooftop L’Heure Dorée is worth visiting if you’re in Paris and staying nearby.

Address: 19 Av. Kléber, 75116 Paris

Open: Usually re-opens for summer season in May and closes by Autumn (Sep-Oct)

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: No

Reservation Needed: No (website says they take walk-ins on first come first serve basis)

11.   ROOF Paris

📍 Location: 1st arrondissement

💸 Price: €€

🗼 Views: The Panthéon, Les Halles, and surrounding Parisian rooftops

🎶 Best For: Local vibes, great energy, fun music, and younger crowds looking for a lively rooftop experience

✨ Highlight: The ambiance. This rooftop feels truly alive, with a fun, social atmosphere that makes it one of the most happening rooftop bars in Paris.

If you’re looking for a rooftop bar in Paris that is vibrant, alive, and free of clichés – then ROOF Paris is probably exactly what you’re looking for.

view from ROOF rooftop bar in paris les halles

View of Les Halles from ROOF Paris; June 2026

Located right by the popular local streets of Montorgueil, this was a very hip-and-happening place to be – especially on a summery Saturday night in the city.

The vibe is very young and the music is on the louder side, making it not as great for families – but it was relatively easy to walk in without a reservation (even on an evening on the weekend). The place also smelled amazing with several vegetarian options for food – I was really impressed with the inventive menu, fusing Asian and Mexican view.

Just keep in mind, this rooftop bar isn’t the best for views – as you can’t see the Eiffel Tower or other more famous monuments in the city.

Address: 43 Rue Étienne Marcel, 75001 Paris

Open: April/May to September/October

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: No

Reservation Needed: No, but beware that it starts to get busy as the evening goes on!

12.   Le Rooftop de la Tour d’argent (Le TOIT DE LA TOUR)

📍 Location: 5th arrondissement

💸 Price: €€€

🗼 Views: A little bit of everything — the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Cœur, the Seine, Notre-Dame, the Panthéon, and more

🥂 Best For: People who like getting dressed up for a fun rooftop bar night out, or those looking for a calm moment to themselves on a weekend afternoon

✨ Highlight: One of the most complete panoramic views in Paris, allowing you to see many of the city's most famous landmarks from a single rooftop

Another one of the more chic-feeling rooftop bars in Paris, Le Toit de la Tour has a fitting name – as it’s great for both views of Parisian rooftops and a full “tour” of all the best monuments in the city.

toit de la tour eiffel tower view and rooftops

Panoramic view of Paris at Le Toit de la Tour; June 2026

Located just off of the student-friendly Latin Quarter, Le Toit de la Tour is located inside the hotel “La Tour d’Argent” – and offers extensive views of the city: from the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Cœur, Tour Montparnasse, Notre-Dame, and even the seine (as the hotel basically hugs the coast of the river, steps away from one of Paris’s many bridges).

My local tip for this rooftop bar would be to try and get a seat on the lower level in the summer, as the back left section offers more shade and private views of the Eiffel Tower on your left. It’s near the kitchen door for reference.

After speaking to the receptionist, she told me that the bar is usually extremely busy everyday past 5pm – but that if you come on an afternoon the way I did, that it’s usually very calm, quiet, and peaceful. Keep this in mind for when you make a reservation, which you must make for this rooftop bar – even if you plan on heading over there at an off hour solo.

The cons to remember are that this rooftop bar is very expensive (not so bad if you order a non-alcoholic drink like me, but I saw bottles of wine in the hundreds) and that there is a dress code: do not wear shorts, flip flops, or athletic wear to this rooftop bar.

Address: Le Toit de la Tour at La Tour d’Argent, 15 Quai de la Tournelle, Paris 75005

Open: April to September

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: No

Reservation Needed: Yes, you need a reservation for this rooftop bar! They will not let you up without a reservation, even at an off hour as a single person.

13. Rapahel la Terrase (Le Jardin du Rapahel)

📍 Location: 16th arrondissement

💸 Price: €€€

🗼 Views: Sophisticated views of the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe

🍸 Best For: Inventive cocktails, elevated dining, and travelers looking for truly unforgettable Eiffel Tower views

✨ Highlight: The drop-dead center Eiffel Tower view, which feels almost impossibly close and creates one of the most impressive rooftop experiences in Paris

Although we’re still waiting for this one to re-open (its website says its still currently closed as of summer 2026), this remains one of the best rooftop bars in Paris for views of the Eiffel Tower.

Nearly cinematic, this rooftop bar in Paris has a London-inspired menu while still keeping the classic Parisian charm intact. It’s a bit more on the expensive side, but a great place to be if you want to feel like the Iron Lady is within spitting distance of you.

Address: 17 ter Av. Kléber, 75116 Paris

Open: May to September (if the weather permits)

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: No

Reservation Needed: No, but website says you can make one at the front desk (as a local, knowing how much France values reservation, I would take that as a suggestion to make one)

14.  People Nation

💸 Price:

📍 Location: 20th arrondissement

🗼 Views: Eiffel Tower and Sacré-Cœur views in the distance

💻 Best For: Low-key laptop sessions, young travelers on a budget, and those looking for more local Parisian vibes

✨ Highlight: Great music, warm people, affordable prices, and relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to spend an entire afternoon here without breaking the bank. It's especially great for digital nomads.

Although it took three tries for me to finally visit this rooftop (first time it was closed for a private event, and the second time the terrace was closed for construction) – it was well worth the wait.

eiffel tower view from nation

View of Nation in Paris and Eiffel Tower and La Défense in the distance at People Nation; June 2026

Definitely one of the more accessible and low-key rooftops in Paris, People Nation is located inside of a hostel out in the 20th arrondissement of Paris – making it well disconnected from typical tourist hype and a real taste for the younger, chiller crowd in Paris.

As a local, this rooftop bar is now one of my best kept hidden secrets in Paris (that I am now sharing with the web) – as it’s often kept off of other rooftop bar round-ups for Paris (even though it shouldn’t be).

The people are nice, the music is great (think the Beatles or 2015 throwback songs), and the views can’t be beat – with great pictures of the Eiffel Tower and the Sacré-Cœur in the distance.

Address: 28 Bis Pl. de la Nation, 75012 Paris

Open: Year round (indoor section)

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: Yes

Reservation Needed: No

15.  Maggie

📍 Location: 9th arrondissement

💸 Price: €€

🗼 Views: Sacré-Cœur and sweeping views of Paris, depending on where you sit

🥂 Best For: After-work drinks, catch-ups with friends, and relaxed evenings in the city

✨ Highlight: The stunning views of Montmartre and the cozy, intimate atmosphere that makes it feel more personal than many of Paris's larger rooftop bars

Perfect for casual after work drinks and calm early summer evenings, Maggie is a posh moment in the middle of Pigalle that offers jaw-dropping views of the Sacré-Cœur.

sacre coeur view from maggie rooftop

View of the Sacré-Cœur from Maggie Rooftop in Paris, France; June 2026

While you don’t need a reservation for the rooftop bar for small groups under 8 people, I still suggest heading here as early as possible. I walked over here after work, and still had to wait for a single seat.

Still, the wait was worth it – as I have probably never seen a more up close or beautiful view of the Sacré-Cœur. With its unique angle of Paris while keeping a great vibe that perfect balances polished and colloquial, I personally find thus rooftop bar to be the perfect “wind down after work” place to be.

Address: 55 Blvd Marguerite de Rochechouart, 75009 Paris

Open: April to October

Overhead Cover/Indoor Option for Bad Weather: No

Reservation Needed: No, but it operates on a first-come first-serve basis, and it fills up fast – so I would be there when it opens at 5pm if you want a seat sitting down.

🚫 Rooftop Bars I Would Skip in Paris (Even If the Views Are Awesome)

🌇 Khayma Rooftop Bar

I found the staff unfriendly and the overall experience unreliable. I walked in and asked where the rooftop bar was, and when we got to the top and discovered it was closed for a private event, the security guard was extremely unfriendly and vaguely said, "Maybe come back tomorrow."

I've had friends in Paris come here before for expat events and enjoy it, but the way I was treated makes me not want to come back again.

🗼 10ème Ciel

While the views are undeniably incredible, it's only open a couple of times a month, requires reservations, and costs around €30 per person.

Every time I've walked by, the hotel staff seemed annoyed that I hadn't checked Instagram to see whether the rooftop was open. Personally, I find it a bit overrated, even if it arguably has the closest Eiffel Tower views of any rooftop bar in Paris.
