After almost a decade of traveling solo as a female around the world, I’ve pinpointed the most important things for solo female travelers to pack with them on a trip – to the extent that I usually leave my backpack filled with most of these items year-round to be able to quickly leave for a last-minute trip.

20 Best Amazon Travel Products for Solo Female Travelers
Lovelook Backpack
Packing for solo female travel all starts with an excellent travel backpack with all of the essentials: such as divided compartments, USB charging, and of course – style!
I have finally found the perfect travel backpack, and it’s from Lovelook – I took it with me on my solo trip to South Africa, recent weekend trips in Europe, and I’ve been in love ever since.
It has a luggage strap, hidden zippered pocket for valuables, and supportive straps – making it the perfect travel backpack for both short and long solo trips.

2. Luggage Scale
Traveling solo can sometimes be more expensive than traveling with friends or family, meaning you’ll want to do everything you can to save money and avoid overweight baggage fees.
As an American living in France, every year when I visit the U.S. – I take a giant empty suitcase and fill it to the brim with various American goodies, and I always weigh it with this luggage scale to make sure I’m not over the 50 pound/23 kilogram limit.
I promise you, it is the most accurate luggage scale I have ever used – it is usually no more than 1 pound off from the luggage scale at the airport. It’s an excellent investment for not only solo female travelers, but expats such as myself living abroad who make annual trips back to their home country.

3. TSA Luggage Lock or Padlock
If you’re planning on staying at a hostel or checking in your bag, you’ll want to make you’re your luggage is secure. I remember being extremely worried the first time I stayed at a hostel in Amsterdam whether these little padlocks would do the trick in place of a suitcase without TSA luggage locks, but they worked like magic!
Try to pick a padlock with a combination instead of one with a key, as it can be easy to misplace amongst keeping track of your other belongings while solo traveling.
Personally, as a solo female traveler – I do think it’s best to invest in luggage with TSA approved locks, but it’s also handy to have padlocks on hand when traveling solo to help secure your day pack or other valuables.

4. AirTags
Everyone loves to make fun of me for my obsession with AirTags, but the truth is – they are one of the greatest ways to ensure peace of mind when traveling.
Whenever I land somewhere, I can always whip out my iPhone and check if my checked luggage made it with me to my destination. I keep an AirTag in my backpack and carry on too, but the fun doesn’t stop there – you can put AirTags in your wallet, passport holder, keys, and more to ensure all your valuables can be tracked down at any time while traveling.
I think opting for the 4-pack AirTags is the best investment, as it allows you to place an AirTag in each of your valuables.

5. Mini First Aid Kit
Take it from someone who is always somehow tripping, falling, or scraping themselves when solo traveling – having a little first aid kit will come in handy when you’re traveling alone.
Some of the items I like to keep in my DIY first kit as a solo female traveler include:
Band-aids
Aloe vera (great for after sun or minor burns)
Neosporin (for cuts, etc.)
Zinc oxide (extra sun protection, great to put on after mosquito bites, cover pimples without needing makeup, etc.)
Hydrocortisone cream (good for anti-inflammation)

6. Compression Packing Cubes
Long gone are the days of needing to roll clothes in your suitcase!
If you think you are beyond packing cubes, you should seriously re-consider – as packing cubes helped me to be much more organized when packing for long-haul international solo trips.
I bought these packing cubes back in 2017 and they’re still going strong after years traveling around Israel, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Africa – as their high-quality mesh design, sturdy zippers, and water-resistant material have helped them to stand the test of time.
These compression packing cubes are available in multiple different colors, meaning you can customize your travel aesthetic and be able to pack more for your next solo trip!

7. Reusable Water Bottle
Many of us solo travelers are also aware of the current state of the environment, as it’s often easy to consume too much single-use plastic when traveling.
Luckily, we can all change that by taking a reusable water bottle with us when we travel. I have personally opted for this collapsible water bottle as it helps to keep my backpack feeling lighter and maximize space.

8. Power Bank
Perhaps the most imperative item on this list for solo female travelers, it is absolutely essential to purchase a good power bank before jetting off somewhere new in the world alone.
This is because your phone battery is prone to draining quicker when traveling abroad as your cell phone may be working harder to find a viable signal, in addition to texting friends and family more often and all of the picture and video taking having an impact on battery life.
After trying many different power banks, I have finally found the perfect one – as it has both USB 2.0 and USB-C ports, and tells you how much percentage is left on the portable battery itself.

10. Microfiber Towel
Whether it be for the beach or the hostel you’re staying at, bringing your own towel while traveling is a good idea – but big towels are too bulky to back for a solo backing trip across Europe or Southeast Asia.
Enter: the microfiber towel! These are perfect for hostels as they don’t take a longtime to dry, and can easily shake off sand from the beach. Just bear in mind, these get smelly quickly – meaning it’s important to wash them on travel laundry days.

11. Foldable Daypack
A good day-pack can make or break how well your travel day goes – as it’s used pretty much anytime you’re outside of your hotel room.
I have used a foldable backpack like this one for years and it has served me well, as it’s waterproof, has multiple zippered compartments, and even a place for your water bottle. It’s perfect for storing your camera, travel journal, wallet, and more while you’re exploring during the day.
Also, a foldable backpack can help you to consolidate space in your carry-on suitcase!

12. Toiletry Bag
On my recent solo trip to South Africa, a British woman saw me with my clear toiletry bag and gleamed while saying, “That’s so clever!”
No one hates the 3-1-1 liquids rule at the airport than me, and while several airports across Europe have failed to realize that this toiletry bag is the same size as a quart size ziplock bag – airports across the U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Israel have let me take out this hand toiletry bag and let it pass through airport security without needing to transfer it to a ziplock bag with no issues.
It’s perfect to keep all of your travel sized items ready-to-go for any trip, and only need to pack the last-minute essentials!

13. Passport Holder + Travel Wallet
I’ve told my parents for years that they need to get on board with a combo passport holder and travel wallet to protect their passports when traveling and to avoid the need to bring their whole wallet with them.
When my mom and I were last in London, her passport got soaking wet in her bag because she didn’t have it in a case.
I’ve tried many passport holders, but these are my absolute favorite – as the close well and have enough compartments for cash, boarding passes, train tickets, SIM cards, and more!

14. Travel Adapter
If you’re big on solo international travel, a travel adapter is one of the best travel products you can invest in – as you won’t have to buy a single travel adapter for each new trip you take.
This one from Amazon is excellent, as it has USB 2.0 and USB-C ports to allow you to charge all of your devices – even at the same time.

15. Laundry Bag
Long trips mean you’ll be bound to have a load of laundry to do at some point, whether it be at home or during your trip – and the last thing you want is your dirty laundry stinking up the clean clothes in your suitcase.
Bringing a laundry bag with you can help you to separate your dirty clothes from your clean ones and keep your suitcase organized!

16. Neck Pillow
If you think a neck pillow isn’t worth it, I dare you to try again – it really is a game changer for avoiding a stiff neck from long-haul flights.
I prefer to have a neck pillow with a sewn on buckle so I can easily attached to either my backpack or suitcase and keep my hands free for my passport, phone, or boarding pass when traveling.
Price: $10 USD

17. Wired Headphones or Earbuds
I know, it’s 2025 and you’re thinking – why do I need wired headphones?
Most airplanes still require a traditional headphone jack to watch the in-flight entertainment, meaning that keeping an “old school” chord handy will make it easier to binge watch movies during your long-haul flight.

18. Waterproof Sneakers
Several places you’re bound to travel to as a solo female traveler may include hiking or beach days where your shoes are bound to get wet or dirty.
I can’t recommend taking a pair of waterproof sneakers with you when traveling solo, as they’ll air dry quickly and keep your higher quality walking shoes in good condition and free from messier travel days.
Price: $30 USD

19. Notebook or Journal
You guys know I’m a writer in and out, having published my own book on Amazon and releasing my own songs on Spotify – meaning that I’m always writing by hand when I travel, too.
It’s beautiful to document specific things from your travel days to look back on years later, which is something not even photos and videos may be able to capture – your exact thoughts from when you were abroad.
I love a notebook just like this one, with a rubber band to seal the journal closed and also a little holder for my favorite G7x pens.
